Yes this makes a lot of sense I have been diagnosed with multiple autoimmune conditions I’m 49yrs I had a very chronic liver disease I was 28yrs which was concluded as due to an autoimmune condition not specified by drs later Diagnosed with hypothyroidism, vasculitis, and RA through tout the years, I suffered from year infections and pain thorough out my childhood and never new why and have some hearing difficulties according to my family they seem to notice it. Now this makes so much sense. My elder daughter 27yrs is diagnosed with chrones in 2021 year and have been going through so many medical complications from a younger age. My younger daughter 15yrs was diagnosed with SLE in 2020 and later confirmed in addition she has MCTD as well. She has been complaining about ear pain and her ears heating up even before she was diagnosed with SLE. and MCTD Now I’m wondering all these make sense after reading this article. Sharing this here hoping this comment will help a better understanding of these autoimmune conditions.

Very interesting! I’ve had problems with vertigo, tinnitus and hearing loss for years. Not one Doctor has linked it to my SLE! I’m constantly amazed by how little the medical profession knows about this disease and it’s impacts on everyday life!

I have hearing loss in both ears. This article shared information I had no idea my hearing loss could have been turned on by my lupus. And no doctor ever share that information with me.

Diagnosed with SLE in ’91. I have the sensorial hearing loss in my right ear and now use a hearing aid. My Lupus medication is Dapsone to control flares and help with my rash which is Lupus/gluten intolerance for wheat. Unfortunately while I eat gluten free bread & pasta products, the rash isn’t getting better, I think it’s worse. I’m rather depressed because nothing is working and doctors in NJ are not very knowledgeable about SLE.

There is a ton of autoimmune diseases in my family and I have SLE. This is fascinating to me as there is also deafness! I wonder how much of it is caused by the autoimmune diseases and how much from outside effects. I was a police officer in the inner city, our siren was above our heads, my dad and other family members worked in loud places. But my aunts were born deaf. Interesting in that I am having hearing issues now and there seems to be no glaring reason.

I have been dealing with hearing loss in my right ear for years. I was shocked to read this as not one doctor has mentioned my SLE as a cause! They just say they don’t know why I can’t hear properly! It has been frustrating to deal with, but now this may answer all my concerns.
